River Heights Vet Oswego

Welcome to a behind the scenes tour of our veterinary hospital. A modern Veterinary Hospital is much more like a human hospital than your own doctor’s office. At your convenience (any time of day) come in for a tour and meet the staff.

Reception AreaReception Area

A clean spacious reception area offers a warm and friendly welcome for our patients and their Moms and Dads.

Our hospital environment is bright, clean and organized. This reflects the kind of care and consideration we give our clients and four-legged family members.

Refreshment CounterRefreshment Bar

We offer refreshments of hot tea, coffee and fruit for our two-legged friends and water in disposable bowls for our four-legged friends.

Pet Exam Rooms OswegoExam Rooms

Our six examination rooms offer a quiet environment to diagnose problems and discuss your pet’s health. A nurse will help you weigh your pet, obtain history and work with your doctor during your visit to address any and all concerns related to the health and well being of your pet.

Animal Treatment RoomMain Treatment Room

This room is centrally located in our hospital. This is where hospitalized or ill patients receive special care, tests or medication they need.

Pet Pharmacy OswegoPharmacy

Our pharmacy stocks all the medications commonly used to treat the medical problems of our patients. Many of the drugs are human drugs and you may be familiar with some.

Pet LaboratoryLaboratory

Our in house laboratory allows us to analyze your pets blood or urine samples as soon as we take them, resulting in a quicker diagnosis and treatment. Other more advanced tests are submitted twice daily to a larger veterinary exclusive laboratory and results faxed back within 12-24 hours.

Animal Surgery Suite OswegoSurgery Suite

In this special room all major sterile surgeries are performed. These range from spays and neuters to more advanced orthopedic or exploratory surgeries. This room is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment including gas anesthesia, patient monitors, advanced instrumentation, suction and radio cautery surgical unit.

The room has two large observation windows to allow other hospital staff members to observe and assist as needed.

Pet Dental Care Suite OswegoDental Suite

Our dental suite is used by staff veterinarians and board certified veterinary dentist Dr. Stephen Juriga. This room is specially designed and equipped to perform comprehensive dental care on dogs or cats. A variety of procedures can be performed from cleaning and polishing teeth, extractions, routine periodontal cases to more advanced therapies such as root canal therapy, orthodontics, and oral surgery, allowing optimal dental treatment options.

Animal Radiology EquipementRadiology

The x-ray room is equipped with a high frequency x-ray machine and digital imaging system. This digital system allows us to magnify and manipulate the image to better diagnose our patients conditions. When needed these images can be e-mailed to specialists for further evaluation.

Dental x-rays are an essential tool used to evaluate conditions that occur under the gums or inside the teeth. Our digital system generates highly detailed images that are viewed on a monitor located next to the patient. This efficient system improves our diagnostic abilities and speeds our treatment.

Medical Wards

Pets that receive surgery are recovered in ICU then transferred to a separate ward from our boarding patients. These wards are kept clean and quiet. The soft music in the ward is provided to comfort your pet.

Oswego Animal KennelBoarding

We have a large pet boarding area located in a separate wing of our facility. Our cat area has natural light and a television to make it feel like “home”.

The dog boarding area has a wide range of kennel sizes. Piped in music and a separate ventilation system maintains a pleasant atmosphere. This area has access to a large grass yard for extra exercise and attention.

Oswego Pet Grooming FacilityGrooming

Our groomer uses a hydro surge massage therapy system. To compliment this system we have a full line of shampoos and conditioners to treat your pet’s special skin conditions. Once dry, our groomer will perform a professional grooming which includes ear cleaning and plucking (if necessary), nail trim, anal sac expression, and breed specific haircut (or style of your choice).

Special Cat Waiting AreaCat Waiting Area

A separate alcove offers a quiet retreat for our feline patients. We also have two examination rooms that are designated “cat friendly” to make your loved ones visit as stress-free as possible.

Veterinary Dental CenterVeterinary Dental Center

The Veterinary Dental Center is a state-of-the-art dental and oral surgery center. Take a look through the viewing windows at the digital dental x-ray system, two fully equipped dental work stations and the hospital’s second surgical suite. Dr. Juriga is one of 100 board certified veterinary dentists in the United States and accepts referrals from over 90 veterinary hospitals in Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin. He also provides dental services to Brookfield Zoo, and in the past smaller zoo patients (opossum and bat eared fox) were treated at here.

Pet Intensive Care UnitIntensive Care Unit

The intensive care area is located within the main treatment room between the laboratory and doctors office. This is considered the “Hub” of the treatment room and patients are under constant supervision. Patients recovery from anesthesia, receive IV fluid therapy and special nursing care.

Pet Ultrasound pet imagingUltrasound/Imaging

The ultrasound or imaging room is located off the treatment room. This room offers a quiet spot to perform ultrasounds. Ultrasound allows doctors to look inside a pet’s body to diagnose disease or collect biopsies in a non-invasive manner. On the right digital X-ray images sent from the radiology room are evaluated by doctors, transferred to a laptop to share with clients and if needed emailed to a specialist for consultation.
