Welcome
to a behind the scene tour of our veterinary hospital. A modern
veterinary hospital is much more like a human hospital than
your own doctors office.
The
reception area and examination rooms are only a small part
of our facility. Surgery, dentistry, x-ray, laboratory service,
hospitalization, and pharmacy as well as many other special
procedures are all done under one roof.
Reception
Area
A
clean, spacious reception area offers a warm and friendly
welcome for our patients and their mom's and dad's. Here you
are greeted and checked in to the hospital.
A
separate alcove offers a quiet retreat for our feline and
small mammal patients.
Displays
in the reception area offer a variety of shampoos, custom
identification tags, and other preventative and behavioral
products. A nurse will come into the reception area to escort
you and your pet to one of the five available exam rooms.
Exam
Rooms
Our
five examination rooms offer a quiet environment to diagnose
problems and discuss your pet's health. A nurse will help
you weigh your pet, obtain history and temperature of your
pet.
The
doctor will expand the history when appropriate and perform
a thorough physical examination. Minor treatments, sample
collection and medication will be dispensed here. More involved
diagnostic tests may require your pet to be taken to our treatment
room or stay a few hours.
At
the completion of your visit after all your questions have
been answered and appropriate handouts been explained you
will be escorted back to the reception area near the exit
hallway.
Main
Treatment Room
This
treatment room is centrally located in our hospital. This
is where hospitalized or ill patients receive the special
care, tests or medications they need.
The
intensive care unit is located between the laboratory and
the doctors office. This considered the "hub" of the treatment
room and patients are under constant supervision.

The
doctors office is a room adjacent to this area. A window keeps
the doctors aware of all that is happening. This office has
an extensive library for our and your pets' benefit.
Pharmacy
Our
pharmacy stocks all the medications commonly used to treat
the medical problems of our patients. Many of the drugs are
human drugs and you may be familiar with some.
Our
computer system generates a specific label, updates your pets
computerized medical record, and prints informative cautions
or instructions on the bottom of your receipt. We also have
access to over 250 educational handouts of commonly diagnosed
diseases that may be printed for you by the doctor.
Laboratory
Our
in house laboratory allows us to analyze your pets blood or
urine sample as soon as we take them, resulting in a quicker
diagnosis and treatment. Other more advanced tests are submitted
twice daily to a larger veterinary exclusive laboratory and
results faxed back within 12-24 hours.
Two
microscopes allow us to evaluate fecal and urine samples as
well as ear swabs and cytology of aspirated masses.
Surgery
Suite
In
this special room all major sterile surgeries are performed.
These range from spays and neuters to more advanced orthopedic
or exploratory surgeries. This room is equipped with state-of-the-art
equipment including gas anesthesia, patient monitors, suction
and electrosurgical unit.
A
fully trained veterinary technician staff is available to
assist the surgeon. The room has two large observation windows
to allow other hospital staff members to observe and assist
as needed. Whenever surgery is performed, the most modern
anesthetic agents, pain killers and procedures are utilized.
Dental
Suite
Our
dental suite is separate from the main treatment area. This
room is specially designed and
equipped to perform comprehensive
dental care on dogs or cats.
A variety of procedures can be
performed from cleaning and polishing teeth to extractions
or oral surgery.
Inside
you will find two dental tables, intra oral x-ray machine,
patient anesthetics and monitors, air powered drills and other
instruments commonly used in dental care.
Special
Procedures
The
special procedures room is located off the treatment room.
This room offers a quiet spot to perform many high tech procedures.
Ultrasound allows us to look inside the body for diseases.
Ultrasound
evaluation of the kidneys, liver and spleen as well
as the heart provides us with valuable information on a daily
basis. Endoscopy permits us to pass a very small camera in
the body. With this instrument we can visualize things like
gastric ulcers or foreign objects, colon polyps or bleeding
tumors, and biopsy any abnormalities to obtain a diagnosis.
Torapen is a digital instrument we use to measure the pressure
in your pets eye. Glaucoma can be easily diagnosed using this
instrument.
Radiology
The
The x-ray equipment at our hospital allows us to conduct studies
from the routine to the sophisticated. A high frequency x-ray
machine and digital imaging system offers many benefits over
standard
(film based) systems. Digital images allow us to magnify
and manipulate the image to better diagnose our patients conditions.
When needed these images can be e-mailed to specialists for further evaluation.
Dental
x-rays are a valuable tool in evaluating certain conditions
that occur under
the gums or inside the teeth. This is a human
machine with animal specific settings, which result in high
quality films.
Medical
Wards
Pets
that receive surgery are kept in a separate ward from our
boarding patients. These wards are kept clean and quiet. The
soft music in the ward is provided to comfort your pet. Here
we try to minimize stress by treating each pet as if it were
our own. Our goal is to return your pet as quickly as possible.
We realize that after adequate rest, pets do best in the comfort
of their own home.
Boarding
We
have a large pet boarding area located in a separate wing
of our facility. Our cat area has natural light and a television
to make it feel like "home".
The
dog boarding area has a wide range of kennel sizes. Piped
in music and a separate ventilation system maintains a pleasant
atmosphere. This area has access to a large grass yard for
extra exercise and attention offered at the owner's request.
Grooming
Our
groomer uses a hydrosurge massage therapy bathing system.
We believe it is the most effective way to bathe your pet.
To compliment this system we have a full line of shampoos
and conditioners to treat your pets special skin condition.
Once dry, our groomer will perform a professional grooming
which includes ear cleaning and plucking (if necessary), nail
trim, anal sac expression, and breed specific haircut (or
style of your choice).
